Prana is Sanskrit for “breath of life.” Prana is the essential nutrient for your voice. Vox is Latin for “voice.” The Pranavox Practice is meant to build a balanced connection between your breath, your body and your voice. This practice combines massage, movement, breath work and vocalization. Each session is split into three sections: a brief, fully-clothed massage followed by breath work and movement, culminating in a vocalization and or singing session. During the massage we will address areas of concern in the body and identify trigger points where you may be holding tension or stress related to your breathing. In the middle section, we begin to coordinate the breath and movement in a very gentle and mindful way. The final section focuses on vocalization practice. Here we will work on bringing breath, body and voice into communion. You will learn vocal exercises and practices based on your vocal goals and leave empowered to share your voice with the world!

what to expect in your pranavox sessions
In your first session we will take a longer intake to discuss your current vocal state, your concerns and your vocal goals and adjust your goals according to your progress. Since the massage is clothed and there will be some physical movement, it’s best to wear something comfortable and moveable.
You will set the pace and direction of our work together and I will provide exercises for you to practice at home on your own if you feel so inspired. My goal is to provide a safe, accepting, judgement free and trauma informed setting for us to explore your voice’s potential.
what are your vocal goals?
-
Balance
Our voices are very powerful instruments and only well balanced instruments can create the finest and attuned sounds. If you struggle with transitions in your voice such a voice cracking or breaks in your voice this balanced practice will allow your true voice to be resonant, grounded, and beautiful, reflecting your true self. A sustained harmony of breath and voice can successfully bring your voice equanimity allowing your instrument to be free.
-
Longevity
Once you can make this connection with your breath, your voice can ride the breath like a wave. Creating a bond between your breath and voice will produce a wider vocal range with a fuller, rounder and richer sound. If your voice fatigues quickly or develops harshness or a gravel sound this practice will deepen and expand your breath and you will create more space in your body for your voice to fly. Learn to steady your breath and your voice will flow with ease for much longer.
-
Strength
Learn ways to support your voice. Your Pranavox practice will help you build the strength in the muscles that facilitate the breathing your voice needs. You will learn what is constricting your voice from reaching its potential and to ignite the support needed for your voice to project further, higher, lower and for longer periods of time. This is a yogic vocal practice that targets the strengthening muscles that propel your voice while relaxing your neck and throat. The result? A truly resonant, relaxed, and free voice that is authentically your own.
